As of Wednesday 2nd<\/sup> December Bedford will be in Tier 2 \u2013 this is unlikely to change for the rest of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tier 2 means: \u201cyou must not meet indoors with anyone you do not live with or who isn\u2019t in your support bubble\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore the management committee has had no choice but to keep the Annex (Shed) closed until the Government changes its position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, we will keep you abreast of the events and let you know when we can reopen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, we sincerely thank you for your continued support, and will continue with weekly Zoom meetings (Monday 11:00) and the anarchy of the WhatUp group \"😊\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Men In Sheds Bedford Annual Christmas Lunch Tuesday 17th December 2019 at 14:00<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are excited to announce our annual Christmas Lunch on Tuesday 17th December 2019 at 14:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will need to sign up on the list at the shed, along with a \u00a35 deposit. Cost depends on how many course you have, and how much you drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Outstandingly Successful Open Day<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Men In Sheds Bedford Open Day on the 22nd June 2019 was an outstanding success, with several hundred people attending. Our event was supported by Mohammad Yasin MP and Alistair Burt MP. The Mayor of Bedford and the Mayor of Kempston were also in attendance, along with over a dozen local councillors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chairman, Bob Wickens, said that, \u201cWe hope that more men realise we are here, and how we can make a difference to their lives. Just come and join us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On display were examples of what the Men In Shed get up to when they are not too busy talking and drinking tea. Woodwork, carving, engraving, computers and electronics, model railways, weaving, woodturning, fine art painting, calligraphy and metal casting. Throughout the day there were also ongoing demonstrations, and the food from the BBQ went down well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charity would like to thank everyone who gave up their time and made an effort to visit us. Also a big thank you to E-spired Centre of Excellence, who very kindly allowed us to use their hall and grounds for the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday evening Bob N attended the official opening of the Espire school (next to our building) alongside Stephen, Geoffrey, and David.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of our increasing profile, we are moving actively into social media (Facebook). The group has existed for some time, but we have not been able to easily administer it. We can now, and we are looking for some to be become the Social media champion (if you are experienced on Facebook)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18th September 2018 – Men In Sheds Wednesday Sessions are now available<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear All, thanks to the effort of several keen members, we are announcing we are running official Wednesday morning sessions. Machines allowed but generally hope to be a slightly quieter day (possibly).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please take advantage of this as we really want to be making greater use of the facilities that are available to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bob Wickens has been acting as Chairman for the last few months in our recent meetings. In the recent management meeting on the 15th June, he was elected by the committee as the Chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5th June 2018 – Men In Sheds Bedford Barbecue<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A big round of applause for Men In Sheds Bedfords for a great team effort on the Barbeque on Tuesday the 5th. It was a fine example of what we can achieve together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, we must say a particular \u201cWell Done\u201d to Bob for organising everyone, a task that makes herding cats look easy, and Dave for barbecuing the meat all evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

23rd May till 2nd June 2018 Permission to speak Exhibition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is currently an exhibition at the Bunyan Basement (at Bunyan Museum), which involves the Pottery Class in the Art Centre, and Men In Sheds too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year we built the plinths that the art is displayed upon. This year we (well Stephen) renovated two boxes (pretty much rebuilt them), which were from the Panacea Trust, and are being used a \u201cSecret\u201d boxes. I also created the powerpoint presentation that is running with all the stories from the ladies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, they are also raising funds for Carers in Bedfordshire \u2013 which I am sure you are aware have kindly featured our charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you can, it would be nice to pop along, say hi, marvel at our plinths, and support the Exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the Nursery School is planning on running a Easter school club from the 5th to the 13th, at this time we believe that the site will be open expect for the Easter weekend (Friday 14th, Saturday 15th, Sunday 16th, and Monday 17th).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note that the site might lock the gates early; as at New Year I was trapped in, and had to scale the fence, walk home, and leave the car behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
